New Year's Eve

So, it is the last day of year 2012.
Funny how I have been yearning for a rich white Christmas to come with lovely plentiful gifts and amazing Christmas parties; everything zoomed by in a flash.
The last weekend was spent with a debaucherous celebration for the Boyf birthday at Movenpick Heritage Hotel (loads of pictures to post!).

It's the time of the year, where I give gratitude and look back on all that I've accomplished.
This year has been absolutely amazing, with all the ferocious fabulous things happening in my life.

Perhaps I will do a drop down list of what's what:

I- Left the glamorous world of Banking to pursue my grounded interest
II- Bought my first own lil' car, Picx
III- Had our own office & studio space for NewlyClad, from the space allocation to renovations.
I owe it to my amazing partner @yeojieyi for all the crazy work and burnt weekends!
IV- Registered a company for my music core interest
V-Did my first youtube cover of Jar of Hearts (as I plan for more better breathtaking covers haha)
VI- Had a crazy little boy- Crayon the mixed pomeranian spitz
VII- Brought in my piano courses in International Schools (fingers crossed for more to come in 2013)

Today, let us all fill up with endless inspirations and motivations for year 2013.
Don't forget to do your New Year's Resolutions!

HALLOWEEN

HALLOWEEN came and went by in a flash.
I still vaguely recall last year's Halloween, I went with some friends to SAM for a Halloween Tour plus movie screening & I was Hermonie Granger from Harry Potter- absolutely fuss free.

So, this year I went with Boyf as Black Swan and he was the Gold Bling Monster.
Everything was really last minute so I pretty much used whatever I had in the closet.
We had Cabaret, Fiona, Vampire,  Mini Mouse, Princess of Persia, Cowgirls and loads of Janitors in orange jumpsuits.

And we ended up with a massive hangover the next day.

On a side note:
New Christmas Collection from NewlyClad. We have amazing giveaways like Balencia & Nars this Christmas, so check out our Facebook Page here.

Food Whispers: Wimbly Lu Chocolates

Sunday afternoons are divine for the mind and soul, especially when you are spending it with someone awesome. Boyf and I practically lazed in bed the entire morning watching HK Drama, 5 episodes in a row.
We dragged our lazy bums out to Wimbly Lu, extremely near his place so it was a really quick drive. I saw two vintage VW outside Wimbly Lu and gladly partake the vintage car wish game I learnt since I was a kid; whenever you see a vintage car (it has to be really old and vintage), you can whack the person next to you on the head and make a huge wish. This eccentric activity always gets me thrilled especially when I am way better at spotting vintage cars around.

Red VW number one

Bounty Hunter

We had to wait for seats cos this place is pretty packed, they have old school decors at the entrance and also a cute little carpeted corner with children toys and books for kids.
Our seats were served shortly, the interior of Wimbly Lu reminds me alot of Selfish Gene at Craig Rd with their see through rooftops.

I had my usual Cafe Latte, D had his Ice L Tea and we ordered a Chocolate Fondant with homemade vanilla ice-cream on the side. We always make it a point to break the crust of the Choc Fondant cake for that decadent melted chocolate oozing sight. Of course, there has to be a good amount of chocolate lava from a perfect Chocolate Fondant. It was yummy, almost similar to the one we had at Bistro Du Vin during Restaurant Week. Now, this is a staple must order in Boyf's menu- I gotta learn how to bake it then! :)
The melting chocolate lava was fairly inconsistent, there were lumps of chocolate within the chocolate. The parfait pairing of cake, hot chocolate and vanilla ice-cream makes up for it however- you can barely taste the bumpy texture! The latte was great, but D's Ice Lemon Tea was just really normal- guess you can beat the one at Marmalade Toast.
We stayed there till the skies turned darker, D had a huge decision of his life to ponder about-explains his trusty organizer and I was furniture hunting for my new bed frame which he broke a couple of days back as well as doing up lesson plans.

Loving my new Snow Nerd Decal on the MacBook!
It was a quiet, lovely Sunday afternoon we had, I love the inspirations, motivations and quality moments. We took some pictures around & of each other- most of my pictures had chocolate stain on my lips so I can barely post them. There were loads of other desserts I would like to try the next time, like the Root Beer Float Cake with Vanilla Ice-Cream and Pancakes. Ultimately, this could be our regular to go place since it is so nearby. Till then!

Sick Cat

I've been wheezing & coughing for the longest time, since the past 10 days.
The doctor even prescribed me asthma meds as I almost had two attacks in town the last weekend.
So, it is probably time to work out and ignite my healthy hormones (wherever you are!)

Last Thursday was golfing after piano, I probably had 100 swings and none barely went past the 75m mark! Ended our game at 11pm, coupled with blisters and a very sore back because of my new found posture, I am extremely determined to play really well soon.
Saturday morning was Bikram yoga with Kel, Bims and Hx. It was a torturous 90 minutes of heat, perspiration and major water evaporation from the body. I was practically dripping by mid session, though the end effect was really fulfilling and refreshing- similarly it was sore-oh-body on Sunday when I woke up.
Sunday, Boyf & I went swimming at his sister's new place. Perhaps soaking will better describe the water sport for me; Boyf ended up passing me a float, googles and did an intensive training of frog style with me. I am absolutely terrified of deep waters, having almost drowned thrice when I was a kid; well it is time to kick that dreadful phobia away.

Amazing how I survived the last week, gotta throw in more sessions of running, skating and yoga!

Food Whisper: Uma Uma Ramen

While being on a hunt for the best Ramen in town, I really wanted to try Uma Uma Ramen after a delightful discovery that it was opened entirely to serve the authentic Japanese noodle dish.
Backed by the fellas behind Iggy's, this is a ramen soup shop not to miss.

On the way to Uma Uma at Forum, the rain was massive and carpark was jammed packed so we jay parked and risked the rain for lunch.

Goofers and my super straight fresh bangs

Boyf and his kicks

There are only two options available, the Uma Uma Ramen and Spicy Chasiu Ramen as well as some side dishes. We both had the Spicy option and I had to order my absolute fave soft boiled cold ramen eggs. Verdict: well I guess I have an inclination towards the spicy delish Ramen at Baikohken in Takashimaya. I haven't had any that beats that yet.
The broth is fairly thick and consistent, good enough for a warm hearty fill up.

I had a huge craving for the ice-blended Lemon Tea at Marmalade Toast (they officially serve the best Frothy Iced Lemon Tea, with fresh lemon pulp blended with ice and tea.) so we went down and ordered a Smores Cupcake too. It is a quaint, refreshing place tucked in the corner of Takashimaya.
I can honestly spend the entire day relishing on simple sweets like these.
Yeps, I'm super obsessed with Toast now I go there almost every Thursdays.

It's been awhile!

Longest, longest time since I last blogged here, I've tried the primitive old school diary but it does not exactly support pretty, colorful pictures & fonts.
So apparently I have all the Mac technology I want, first the iMac then the Macbook Air (thank you Boyf!)
I love the apps, the versatile fonts and the sleek armor of both the desktops and lapbooks.
No more excuses for not being able to reply mails and start blogging again.

A lot of things have kickstarted my awesome 2012, especially since now I have all the time in the world.
Namely one, we have finally launched NewlyClad (do swing by!)- our new brand platform for online shopping. Yes more pieces coming along with our new studio & office space. I kinda couldn't be more excited to finally have our own shooting space. There is going to be more handwork, effort, dedication to this and I do hope everything will work out eventually.

There you have it, more posts and food whispers coming up!

Food Whispers: Forty Hands

Recommended by our preppy colleague- I have been wanting to try out this place for the longest time!
It is just around the corner across Books Actually-the quaint little bookstore that I absolutely adore ever since Boyf brought me there.
Forty Hands is a really petite place that can amazingly house close to 20 or more people. There's a cool back hideout area with more seats as well. We were lucky to score seats almost immediately and had a good corner table to ourselves.

Our Corner

Latte

Delicious pita with cream

Eggs Benedict. I always have a weakness for poached eggs with hollandaise sauce.

Love the ceiling decor
Forty hands is located just around the area where we both used to work- Great World City. There's a really good old school BaChor Noodle place in the neighborhood that I drove Dad and Mom to one weekday afternoon.
They loved it, the BCM, old school coffees and the quiet serene surroundings.

Life as it is

I love staying home, sitting in front of my iMac, surfing away food blogs and lifestyle posts, drinking tea, listening to my bossalounge playlist and thinking stuff to cook- though this hardly happens.
When my eyes get really tired facing the screen, I ll grab my book and read it on bed. I practically finished 3 books within a span of 2 weeks, time to get new ones!

Boyf and I have been attending French lessons every Sunday morning, not exactly revising too much considering we missed the first lesson. Soon we'll both be really proficient enough to roam around the streets of France eating Mille-feuilles and watching French dvds without subtitles.

Crayon has been really adorable, he was practically a raccoon doppelgänger when I first met him with really bad tear stains from too much crying initially and now they are all sparkling clean and cream. He still can't pee in his area though but being barely 3 months old, I guess that's fine.

Heres a mega cute video of him doing his first trick.

Gotta run to head out for tea and some French revision with Boyf! Was supposed have dinner at Coastal Settlements with Boyf and his friends but they are fully booked for dinner. Fully booked! I can't believe it cos we went there countless times and they are always so deserted and empty, thats what i love about the place-the seclusion. Guess we gotta hunt for other places now.  Au revoir!

As we cook away

Once upon a time, we signed up for a cooking class.
Boyf's sister was organizing and that particular event was just short of two people so we went for it.
It was hell fun and we were practically eating throughout the lesson, well at least I was. :)

Before class commences

The colorful chopped up gardens
Bb with the flour coat
Blend you tomato puree!
Boiling away on the old school brick stove

Classic Tomato Soup topped with freshly baked croutons & basil leaves

Yes I can cook damn well

The yummeh Chicken stew for our pies
The Chef & her little elf
Pre-Raw Pies
Post-Burnt pies
Pretty fluff thing for dessert
Eton Mass
Class ended on a pretty good note, considering that we polished off almost everything we cooked in an instant. We smelt like everything else in class except ourselves though. At least now I can make kickass tomato soup alongside aglio olio,  buttered mushrooms, pan seared asparagus and peri peri prawns. (All my experiments the past couple of months)
